OUR STORY

Welcome to Gifted Breads! I'm beyond excited to share a slice of my gluten-free journey with all of you! It all began with a simple craving: real bread, without the gluten. My journey took flight after being diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2009. The quest for satisfying alternatives led me down an unexpected path.

In 2014, I embarked on a life-changing adventure in London, where I was blown away by the quality of gluten-free products. From exquisite restaurant offerings to incredible bread varieties, I found myself amazed by the quality of their gluten-free products. However, upon returning to the United States, I encountered a familiar frustration: unsavory bread options laden with chemicals. As a lawyer, my schedule didn't allow for baking fresh loaves every week, and I wasn't fond of the store-bought options. However, given that bread has been my favorite food since childhood, simply not eating it wasn't an option for me.  That's when I made the bold decision to leave my capital markets law career behind and pursue a new passion: creating the perfect gluten-free bread.

However, I had no experience in the baking world, I resorted to what I did best: immersing myself in books, absorbing every detail about the science of bread-making and exploring alternative flours. Months of experimentation and flour studies culminated in the development of the perfect flour mix. But the quest didn't end there; the challenge remained in perfecting the baguette. My goal was clear: to bake a loaf so remarkable that even gluten-eaters would find it indistinguishable from traditional bread. If I could not achieve this goal, I was not going to

embark on the journey of starting a bakery.

Through countless trials and errors, I finally cracked the code and Gifted Bread was born.

Gifted Breads is a, women and minority owned, gluten-free artisan bakery nestled in East Garfield Park, Chicago. Here, we stand firm in our belief that being gluten-free should never equate to sacrificing taste or texture. With Gifted Breads, you can always savor the perfection of bread, regardless of dietary restrictions.

HOW WE CONTRIBUTE TO OUR COMMUNITY

We believe that giving back to community makes the world better little by little… We’re still a small company but are trying to support our community and causes we believe in as much as we can.

We are honored to partner with the North Lawndale Employment Network (NLEN), an organization dedicated to empowering under- and unemployed residents of the North Lawndale neighborhood and surrounding areas. NLEN provides vital support to individuals facing various challenges, including reentry from incarceration and financial instability.

Through job readiness and financial literacy programs, NLEN equips community members with the skills and resources needed to secure sustainable employment and improve their financial well-being. Additionally, NLEN operates two social enterprises, Sweet Beginnings | beelove®, and the beelove café, furthering their mission of creating opportunities for economic advancement.
